Overview
NomadFX is a currency converter, trip splitter, and shopping helper. It does not create a NomadFX account, and it does not send your personal information to a NomadFX server.
We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data. There is no analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking. Favorites, amounts, trips, and scans live on your device unless you choose Apple iCloud.
What we do not collect
- No name, email, or phone number is required to use the app.
- No receipt photos, scanned text, or shopping-page content are uploaded to NomadFX.
- No advertising identifier, analytics SDK, or tracking across websites.
- No sale of personal information, because we do not hold a copy of it.
The only information that can leave the device is a public rate lookup, data you choose to sync with your own iCloud account, or an email you send to support.
What stays on your device
Currencies, amounts, calculator entries, favorites, settings, trip names, participants, and expenses are stored on the device. Widgets and Apple Watch use that same local data. You can delete a trip or favorite in the app, or remove everything by deleting NomadFX.
Receipts and price scanning
The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to scan a price or receipt. If you never scan, those permissions are not required.
Scanning is on-device. Apple’s text recognition reads the image on your iPhone. When available, Apple’s on-device model then turns that text into an expense, such as a merchant, total, and line items. The photo and the recognized text are not sent to NomadFX and are not sent to a cloud AI service. Review and edit the result before you save it.
Safari extension
If you enable NomadFX in Safari, the extension reads prices on pages you allow so it can show a conversion. That work happens in the browser on your device. The pages you visit are not uploaded to NomadFX. You can turn the extension off, or limit it to specific websites, in Safari settings.
Exchange rates
To show current rates, the app requests public rate data from Frankfurter for currencies and, if you use those favorites, from CoinGecko for a small set of crypto prices. Those requests do not include your name, trips, receipts, or favorites list. Like any network request, the provider may see a technical address such as an IP address. Rates are cached on the device and refresh when you open the app. Rates typically update on weekdays.
Optional iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Apple may sync your base currency and favorites across your devices, and may store shared trips in your iCloud account. A shared trip can include the names, expenses, settlements, cover photo, and member photos you add. People you invite can see that shared trip. Receipt scans are not part of that upload.
You can use NomadFX without sharing a trip. iCloud data is handled by Apple under your Apple ID, not by a NomadFX account. Notifications, if you allow them, are only for shared-trip updates and are delivered by Apple.
Support email
We receive information only if you email us, such as your address and message. Please do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or receipt images unless you choose to. Support mail is kept only as long as needed to answer you.
Your choices
- Use conversion without creating or sharing a trip.
- Skip scanning. The camera is not used unless you start a scan.
- Turn off the Safari extension, or allow it only on chosen websites.
- Manage iCloud, photos, camera, and notifications in Apple settings.
- Delete the app to remove local data from that device.
NomadFX is a general-audience utility, not directed to children, and it does not provide banking, payments, or trading.
